The commuters rushing to work at Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland.

January 21: Baba Ganoush

January 21, 2018January 21, 2018 · 2 Comments ·

Made Baba Ganoush today–for the blog (www.slowburningpassion.com). This is my photography sweet spot for the sheer reason that I do it all the time (weekly for over two years).

January 20: Podcasting In Dark Times

January 20, 2018January 20, 2018 · Leave a comment ·

Podcasting set up in my bedroom–which is the quietest and least echo-y room in my home. We did our pilot run of podcast recording for In Dark Times today–Tedd and I over Skype. It was awkward at first. Forced and unnatural. After several tries we … Continue reading January 20: Podcasting In Dark Times

January 19: Crossing the Steel Bridge

January 20, 2018January 20, 2018 · Leave a comment ·

After two days of jury duty, finally back to work. This was taken from the MAX train while crossing the Steel Bridge into Old Town/China Town. I like the geometry of all of that light rail train line wiring.

January 18: Morning Construction on NE 21st

January 19, 2018January 19, 2018 · Leave a comment ·

I’ve had jury duty the past two days. Carrying a DSLR into a court house with a lot of sherrif’s deputies and metal detectors seemed a poor idea, so this is a cellphone shot. You have to get there by 7:30 to get through security … Continue reading January 18: Morning Construction on NE 21st

January 17: Lunchtime at Costello’s Travel Cafe

January 17, 2018January 17, 2018 · Leave a comment ·

I had jury duty today, but I didn’t get called for a trial. I had to be there by 7:30 so I commuted downtown in the dark. It was eerie and quiet. They cut us loose before lunch and I went to Costello’s Travel Cafe … Continue reading January 17: Lunchtime at Costello’s Travel Cafe

January 16: Director Park Sidewalk Chess

January 16, 2018January 16, 2018 · Leave a comment ·

In director park in downtown Portland they have giant chess pieces. Each piece is about two feet tall. People hang out and play giant chess in the summer time. Not so much in January, but the set the pieces up anyway.

January 14: Pomegranate Walnut and Cinnamon

January 14, 2018January 15, 2018 · Leave a comment ·

Cooking on Sunday. I made this absurdly delicious classic Persian dish called Fesenjan. It’s a sauce made with ground toasted walnuts and pomegranate molasses–served on poultry.

January 13: Hey Dude!

January 13, 2018January 13, 2018 · Leave a comment ·

Friendly guy sees me shooting across the street, so he waves at me. This is the first bit of human interaction in this photo series. I still don’t know how to manage the etiquette of photographing strangers in public. I mean I know from the … Continue reading January 13: Hey Dude!

January 12: In Our America Love Wins

January 12, 2018January 13, 2018 · Leave a comment ·

A typical for the season super drenched, gray, drizzly Portland winter morning. It never gets very bright out. Everything is slick and shiny. The greens are vibrant and intense, like a temperate rain forest. I found this little shrine in homage to the America of … Continue reading January 12: In Our America Love Wins
